Certified Corruption?
There is a perception that the Indonesian Ulemas Council can be bribed in the halal certification process. If this is true, it means it is breaking its own fatwa.

WE hope it is not true, and that it is far from the truth. The Indonesian Ulemas Council (MUI) is on the list of associations perceived to be corruptible, at least on the issue of halal certification. The intention here is not to cause offence, merely to quote the 2008 Corruption Perception Index recently published by Transparency International Indonesia.
