JUST as the pollsters predicted, the Democrat Party won last week’s general elections. The party with a red and white star logo, overtook the Golkar and Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) parties, which came first and second in the 2004 elections. The results of this year’s elections are still considered as estimates, based on quick counts, but the margin of error in these quick counts is usually less than 1 percent.
