Gold Fingers

Legislators should not be given gold rings and badges. This is inappropriate and a waste of money.

IF one tradition of the House of Representatives (DPR) is continued, in October, Senayan, home of the DPR, will be awash in golden light when 678 new legislators wear their rings of pure gold. Paid for with state funds, the rings are meant to symbolize gratitude. Even this is strange. The performance of the members is uneven, so why give all of them the same rings?
