Non-Violent Protests

A show of protest is a constitutional right, but a show of violence is a crime.

THERE have been more and more protests recently. The one-year anniversary of the Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono-Boediono administration last week, for example, was marked by demonstrations in major cities across the nation. Generally, these passed off peacefully, but some ended in violence. In Jakarta a student was shot in the leg after battling the police.
