Religious figures who publicly voice an opinion on government policies must be careful. It would be very easy for vested political interests to exploit their statements.

IF the statement issued by the interfaith leaders on the government’s lies turned into practical politics, it could have serious consequences. Prominent figures representing the Islamic, Catholic, Buddhist and Hindu faiths recently got together and issued a declaration listing 18 lies committed by the government.
