Going it Alone
The Regional Representatives Council has proposed a law allowing individuals to stand for president. This would be good for the people, and also for the political parties.

ALTHOUGH it is nothing new, the proposal deserves support. Last week, the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) submitted the idea of individuals running for the presidency. A candidate could run for president without using the political party route. The DPD included this idea in its proposed fifth series of amendments to the 1945 Constitution.
