Safety First
The poor safety systems at refineries have been highlighted again. There must be an immediate evaluation of and improvements to ensure safety standards.

THE fire at the Cilacap oil refinery once again showed the shoddy state of safety systems at our vital oil installations. It should have been possible to prevent the disaster with discipline and caution. It is regrettable that it happened at a time when we sorely need energy and when world oil prices are on the rise due to the conflicts in the Middle East.
