ALL the commotion following the arrest of the fugitive Muhammad Nazaruddin in Cartagena, Colombia must not be allowed to obscure the main issue at hand. The former treasurer of the Democrat Party is accused by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) of involvement in 35 corruption cases in nine ministries. The total loss to the state is estimated to be Rp8 trillion. This could be the biggest scandal in the history of corruption in Indonesia.
