Bringing the condom issue into religious and moral areas is a mistake. There needs to be widespread, effective and continuous public information.

THE controversy spread quickly after Health Minister Nafsiah Mboi took the initiative to familiarize young people with condoms. The minister's aims were noble enough: introducing the benefits of condoms at all levels, from teens, who were urged to respect post-marital sexwhich is healthier and safer, to targeting those indulging in riskier sexual practices, so they use condoms to avoid spreading disease.
