The government appeared tardy in dealing with the effects of the recent volcanic eruption, as if it learned nothing from the chaos following the Sinabung eruption, from the supply of masks to the availability of drinking water. Many evacuees were left in limbo because the camps set aside for them were already in use by other displaced people, proving that disaster management was a last-minute affair.
