The Saudi Phantom Coalition

SAUDI Arabia is one of those countries with a penchant to form or join alliances, particularly for its own political agenda. The Islamic military coalition it declared two weeks ago also needs to be seen from that perspective. In other words, under the pretext of collective interest, the alliance it proclaimed would most likely serve Saudi Arabia's own interests.

It doesn't take much effort to sniff out the well-disguised objective. Amid the continuing conflicts in the Middle East, especially the ongoing civil war in Syria, whatever efforts to battle terrorism without Iran would be just a grandiose fantasy, particularly when the group is labeled as an Islamic alliance.
