The government should rethink its plan to hand over prison management to the private sector. It could turn into a money-making operation.

The government seems to have finally thrown in the towel over reforming prisons. Unable to overcome the many problems in correctional facilities, the Justice and Human Rights Ministry plans to transfer their management to the private sector. But if the bureaucratic mentality remains corrupt and oversight is slapdash, the privatization of jails could be problematic.
