It is completely inappropriate that a state-owned general hospital should offer services based on religious rules. The implementation of sharia (Islamic law) principles at the Tangerang General Hospital is a step too far. Built and operated from tax revenues, the hospital should not differentiate between patients’ religious backgrounds.
