Don’t be Fooled by Apparent Growth
Although it recorded growth of 7.07 percent, our economy has yet to show significant change. Unemployment and the poverty rate are still high.

IT is too soon for the government to be proud of the 7.07 percent year-on-year positive growth in the second quarter of 2021. The fact that it has turned around from the minus 0.74 percent figure of the previous quarter is of course a good thing that must be maintained. But it is a mistake to see this achievement as signifying that the Indonesian economy has recovered.
