WITH probably three presidential candidates, what can we hope for from the 2024 elections? Indonesia under Anies Baswedan, Ganjar Pranowo or Prabowo Subianto, the three names consistently at the top of the opinion polls, will face many challenges, from the global recession, environmental destruction and growth dependent on extractive industries to disregard for human rights, the collapse of democracy and rampant corruption.
