TVRI possesses huge assets indeed. If the New Order's catchphrase is to be repeated, TVRI is a television station of struggle, one belonging to the people. It has 23 stations in various regions and some 400 transmitters perched on many a hill. The residents of Jakarta and other major cities may just ignore TVRI, but villagers—out of love—like TVRI and its regional news and arts. True, some villagers have no other choice but to watch
