The new election law recently adopted by the House of Representatives (DPR) still deprives many Indonesians of their right to be elected to the country's legislature. The law, adopted on February 18, still carries a provision banning former members of the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) and other outlawed organizations from running for election in the DPR.
