The continuing chapter on the Manulife case raises an important question: do judges here merit special treatment? As widely reported, the three judges who presided over the Manulife case—Hasan Basri, Kristi Purnamiwulan and Tjahyono—have now been suspended indefinitely. Their controversial bankruptcy ruling on the Canadian insurance company Manulife lasted only eight days before it was overturned by the Supreme Court.
