The presidential and vice-presidential elections bill being promoted by the government is contentious. The vote requirement violates the 1945 Constitution.

The bill currently being deliberated in the House of Representatives setting out the procedures governing the election of the president and vice president, is contentious and designed solely to serve the interests of the political parties.
