Fear in Jakarta
There is concern that the death of Basri Sangaji may lead to a gang war in the streets of Jakarta. Stronger laws are needed to prevent such occurrences.

THREE different incidents in the last six months in Jakarta have caused widespread concern.
It started last May when security guards at the Stadium Disco in West Jakarta beat two guests so badly they had to be hospitalized. Two nights later, a gang of youths carrying machetes, swords, baseball bats and iron bars attacked the Stadium. The discotheque was severely damaged, but more seriously, two people died and three were injured.
