Don't Violate the Constitution
The condition that presidential candidates be ethnic Indonesians should be removed; the government must set a good example by obeying the Constitution.

Stipulating that only ethnic Indonesians can stand for the presidency is clearly a breach of the Constitution. Any person born as an Indonesian citizen can become a candidate for the presidency or vice-presidency, says the Constitution. Home Affairs Minister Hari Sabarno disagrees, and has included the condition "ethnic" in the presidential and vice-presidential election bill which the government submitted to the House of Representatives (DPR)
