The Death Penalty Alone is not Enough

The death sentence on former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein will end the legal process. Yet there are still 11 more serious cases besides the crime at Dujail.

TWO weeks ago, the Iraqi criminal court sentenced former President Saddam Hussein to death by hanging. The sentence was for a crime against humanity: the killing of 148 Shiites at Dujail. The case will now go to the appeals court, which will announce its result in January. The death sentence against Saddam is scheduled to be carried out in the middle of February.
