‘Sago to secure our food supply’
PRESIDENT Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono last week invited farmers, food producers and fishermen to share a lunch with him and to discuss how to increase food production and seek solutions to the food problems occurring around the world. Conversely, the Agriculture Department recently announced plans to transform sago, found in profusion around Eastern Indonesia and the staple food of people in Papua, into a basic raw material for bioethanol.
