THE Lambusango forest is a low-lying forest on the island of Buton. The forest, still intact, has a wealth of endemic biodiversity as part of the Wallacea region and is the source area for all rivers that feed into south Buton. Lambusango (65,000 hectares) has two conservation areas (29,320 ha): Cagaralam Kakenauwe (810 ha) and Suaka Margasatwa Lambusango (28,510 ha), which are managed by the Southeast Sulawesi Department of Forestry.
