King Bone’s Songkok

Today, not only royalty but common people can wear a piece of cultural heritage of the Bugis Bone community.

IN the past To Bone songkok (a black brimless round cap) was worn by the Bone kings and their families. This headdress is also part and parcel of royal traditional male wardrobe among the Bugis Bone of South Sulawesi. Especially for the kings and the aristocrats, the headdress was adorned with gold thread. The thicker the layer of golden threads, the higher is the status of the wearer.
