A village in Lombok has become an icon of antique box handicrafts much sought-after by tourists.

INITIALLY the residents of Rungkang Jangkuk hamlet, Sayang-sayang village, Mataram, earned a living by making pottery and domestic utensils. But the earnings did not satisfy them. Luckily, art shop owners in Bali asked them to supply Lombok-specific handicrafts.
