JAMURSBA Medi Beach is almost lifeless at noon. A warm sea breeze blows toward the land, whipping beach trees and causing perspiration. No fishing boats are at sea. The white sand stretching for over 10 kilometers on the northern coast of Sorong regency, West Papua, is virtually a desert, scorching the soles of feet.
