The Heart of Borneo
Large areas of forests in Borneo are destroyed. Unless immediate steps are taken to stop further destruction, all that remains of the forests on the island will be lost for good.

THE Island of Borneo, or Kalimantan as Indonesians call it, is rich in biodiversity and natural resources. But overexploitation has destroyed large areas of the island’s forests.
According to the World Bank forests in the lowlands of Borneo would disappear in 2010 if exploitation continues at the current rate. Only forests in the highlands would remain.
