Air accidents have frequently occurred in central and eastern Indonesia. But any ban on flight operation in these zones would make local communities further isolated. A serious endeavor is promptly undertaken.

EXACTLY on entering 2007, an Adam Air plane was reported missing in Mamuju, South Sulawesi. The Boeing 737-400 took off from Surabaya at 13:00, carrying 96 passengers including seven children and four infants. This jetliner should have landed in Manado, North Sulawesi, at 16:14 local time.
Director of Safety & Security of Adam Air, Captain Hartono, said the aircraft lost contact and disappeared from the control tower radar at Hasanuddin airbase,
