Efforts are being made to halt population growth, including development of a male contraceptive. The gendarussa plant from Papua is potentially one of the best alternatives.

THE National Family Planning Coordination Board (BKKBN) had little to celebrate on World Contraception Day on September 26. Contraceptive use in Indonesia shows no significant increase, while the population growth rate continues to climb, threatening the country with a population explosion by 2015.
