Despite the fact that they play frequently in the sea, the children of Teluk Merah (Red Bay), Papua often do not possess much knowledge about the environment. However, from the dedication of one teacher, local communities have now taken the initiative in carrying out activities to preserve the environment.

Minee Wally, headmistress of the Yayasan Penabur Kristen or Christian Missionary Foundation (YPK) primary school at Tablasupa, smiled as she stared out at the large body of water that comprises the Teluk Merah Bay at Depapre, Jayapura.
