South Sulawesi Power Struggle
Despite being potentially rich in electricity generation, South Sulawesi is still short of power. Funding shortages have delayed the operation of a number of power-generating plants.

POWER shortages happen in almost all provinces in Indonesia. According to the State Electricity Company (PLN) the shortages are caused by the fact that power supplies do not correspond with the demand for electricity. Since 2000-2008 the electric power growth was only 2.4 percent against 10 percent during the previous period. Early in 2000, electricity crisis was not yet acutely felt, but the year 2009 sees the peak of power shortages.
