Budi, the Hero
A pilot who built an orphanage for the poor children of East Nusa Tenggara made it to the top 10 of the prestigious CNN Heroes 2009 award. The government failed to share an equal interest in the matter, which could otherwise bring positive recognition for Indonesia in the international world.

AMID the international negative news reports on Indonesia, last year an Indonesian, Budi Soehardi, emerged as one of the top-10 finalists of CNN Heroes 2009. The well-known, US-based cable news television station brought Budi up as their choice of humanitarian hero. Established in 2007, the CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute is a television special created by the cable network to honor individuals who make extraordinary contribution to help others.
