THE bedroom looked just like the interior of a shack commonly used by disaster victims. Using mats of woven pandan (Pandanus amaryllifolius Linn) leaves, wooden planks, iron sheets, and cloths to partition the space within, its furniture consisted of a chair and a desk with a number of books piled up on it.
