Sandalwood Revolution
The East Nusa Tenggara regional government is striving to encourage the replanting of sandalwood. Trauma due to a 1986 regional regulation-which claimed government ownership of 80 percent of each person's sandalwood tree-is the biggest constraint.

EVERY day Sanis Nae, Orias Muskanan and Siprianto Lopo struggle around the forest of Flobamora, in Fatukoa subdistrict, West Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The three men are contracted by the Forestry Office to care for the 250 sandalwood tree seedlings in the 30-hectare forest.
