Sebatik, Indonesia, and Tawau, Malaysia, are neigboring regions. However, their differences could not be more glaring.

SEBATIK and Tawau are like day and night. Tawau, the third-largest city in the Malaysian State of Sabah, lights up as soon as the sun sets. Conversely, parts of Sebatik are still dark as blackouts occur intermittently. From the view at Tawau beach at night, the land looks quite gloomy. It is only illuminated by a couple of faint lights seen from afar.
