THE old man stepped on the wet ground where his house once stood. A month after the tsunami swept through Aceh, almost no structure was left standing at Gampong Baru village, Meuraksa, Banda Aceh. The large house that he used to live in was reduced to rubble. The housing complex was turned into a swamp and the fate of his five children is unknown. Wahab, 6, and his wife survived as they were on their haj pilgrimage when the disaster struck.
