The tuna population is threatened by overfishing

BECAUSE Indonesia lies in the World Coral Triangle, the potential of its tuna production should reach about 1.2 million tons a year. In 2009, it exported US$3.5 billion worth of fish. Lamentably, facts indicate that the tuna fish in Indonesian waters are fast disappearing. In 2010, for example, the tuna catch nationwide came to only 2,700 tons, far from the 5,700 tons produced in 2008.
