THE morning mass lasted briefly. In a gendang house or main dwelling of the Wae Rebo community, men were sitting, facing the entrance, with women seated behind them. All of them were neatly cross-legged. In front was Pastor Robert Ramone, sitting parallel to them and reading the book of King Solomon, when the altar of God was built. “The prayer suits the present situation of Wae Rebo,” he said.
