A farmer cooperative in Baliem Valley succeeded in exporting coffee abroad, at the same time improving the welfare of local residents.

PLANTING coffee at Baliem Valley, on the slopes of Mount Jayawijaya, Papua, has always been a collective affair. And it was no different that Tuesday morning, two weeks ago, when dozens of farmers worked together cleaning their plots and planting coffee seeds.
