Creating Women Leaders
The year 2014 demands that women play a bigger role in politics. The fact is that the 30 percent quota allocated for women legislators has not been met by political parties. Are women being sidelined in politics, culturally forbidden to take part in public life? In some regions, they cannot even express an opinion because they are regarded as mere housekeepers. Such antiquated attitudes have prompted many women to initiate political education and entrepreneurial training for women so they can become independent, resilient and pluck up the courage to speak out. Such 'informal' education has succeeded in creating a few women leaders around the country. Tempo English reports from the provinces of South Sulawesi and North Sumatra.

Women Politics in Maros
A group of women from 10 villages in the Regency of Maros, South Sulawesi, have established a forum to increase their political savvy. They also set up a women's school for political education.
