With its mostly-zinc roof, Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) Syuhada or Islamic Junior High School in Aur Cina village, Bengkulu, is slowly rusting over. Its wall-paint, sky-blue in color, is turning grey.

Any sense of gloom, however, vanishes once one enters the classroom. As many as 37 first-year students sit on bright blue plastic benches. Tables of the same color sit in front of them. Sunlight pours through the windows, brightening the atmosphere.
