As the world's biggest seaweed producer, Indonesia lags behind other countries in processing seaweed products. "Our biggest competitor is China, yet they buy their raw materials from us," said Soerianto Kusnowirjono, chairman of the Indonesian Seaweed Industry Association (Astruli).
