Marlintje never thought she would one day partner with an agriculture startup-or an agritech company. Marlintje Makagiras, 57, is a chicken breeder who lives in the remote Sangihe Islands in the North Sulawesi Province, bordering the Philippines’ Mindanao Islands.

Before, she would breed thousands of broiler chickens and sell them to neighboring villages. But a buyer in Manente could only purchase 50 broiler chickens at most, and even then on
