Farmers in the Kedaburapat village, Riau, are growing Liberian coffee rarely found in Indonesia. The coffee variety is planted on peatland.

Cutting down plants is part of Solahuddin’s morning routine. But his daily ritual poses no risk to the environment. His family’s coffee plantation rests on peatland, where weeds can flourish if not kept in check.
After cutting, the resident of the Kedaburapat village in Riau will stack the weed among coffee plants and allow them to decompose. "They’ll turn into compost," said Soleh, short for Solahuddin.
