New Hope for the Sulawesi Civet
Photos taken by a national park patrol team prove that the Sulawesi civet, previously thought to be extinct, still exists in the wild, even outside the park's territory.

Christomus Bode still remembers well the joyous moment in March, when the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) SMART Patrol program coordinator received news from his team concerning a certain Sulawesi civet. Chris's five subordinates found the animal caught in a poacher's trap in the dark jungles of Dumoga, Bolaang Mongondow regency, North Sulawesi, in the Nani Wartabone National Park territory.
