OVER the past few months, housewives in Medang Kampai, Dumai City, Riau, have been busy making various food products from catfish, such as fish nuggets, fish balls, smoked fish and shredded fish or abon, and fish flakes.

According to Sariyem, a resident of the Pelintung village in Medang Kampai, her family as well as the community have come to love the new food products. "Especially the nuggets, because I had never prepared them before," she said.
