The disaster occurred in Palopo, South Sulawesi, on November 5, 2008. Four locals died, four others were missing. And Bungawati, 31, was crying near her home, destroyed by a flood and landslide. She was tightly hugging several pieces of clothing she had managed to save. That was the only thing she could do. Bungawati’s expression reflected the helplessness of human beings facing the wrath of nature.
