THE Jakarta-Beijing Axis was both a political term and a memory. Together with the Jakarta-Pyongyang Axis and the Jakarta-Hanoi Axis, it was part of Sukarno's grand ambition to bring together the countries in the southern hemisphere as the new emerging forces.
