The Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) recorded 43 cases of violence against journalists during the first five months of this year. Military and government officials were mostly to blame.

Certain circles regard journalists as "mosquitoes". They think that the animals are disturbing creatures and therefore deserve killing at any time. The analogy is suitable to describe reporters who have become victims of violence in the course of their journalistic duties.
